"My Ma [Mary Meriwether Gilmer] was married when quite young to Mr. Warren Taliaferro. She lived in Wilkes, Co, but her health became so bad they moved to Pendleton Dis. S. Carolina where they remained until his death.

Ma had six children by her first marriage. Mary Elizabeth [died 1863] was born March 1804. She married T. [Thomas] Rainey. Lucy Gilmer born 1816 she married Ishmael Dunn now living, no children. Zachariah Thomas was a Dr. He died 1824?. The fourth Charles B. [Boutwell] was born 1811 and married Miss Mildred Meriwether lives in Coweta Co. The fifth Pollie Harvey, born 1814 married Mr. Floyd T. Landrum. She is left a widow with ten children, five sons and five daughters. And the sixth Sophia Ann born 1816 married James Meriwether (a cousin of Brother Charles' wife.) They live in the State of Alabama."
