Benjamin first appears in the Dutchess Co., records in Feb. 1748. He was litigcious and contentious resulting in some 30 documents in the judicial archives. The last such record is dated 3 Sept. 1779, filed 16 Nov. 1779. The Soule Gen alleges that Benjamin had 12 and in another place 14 children, but they have never been able to identify one certain, namely Jonathan by his 2nd wife, and two probable."
