John HENDRICK Sr.

ABT 1720 - ____

ID Number: I27534

  • RESIDENCE: Amelia & Halifax Cos. VA
  • BIRTH: ABT 1720, Pamunkey Neck, King William, VA
  • DEATH: Amelia Co. Virginia
  • RESOURCES: See: [S1013] [S1023]
Father: Hans HENDRICK

Family 1 : Tabitha HURT

Notes

"Tabitha Hurt. She married John Hendrick, son of Hans Hendrick who was living on Flat Creek in Amelia County, Va. on February 19, 1741. At a Court held for Amelia County, Va. on February 19, 1741. "Hans Hendrick appointed surveyor of the road from Crofford's home unto Burton's road over Fistt Creek. John Harris, William Williams, William Brumfield, Wm Farley, Jr., John Hendrick, Hance Hendrick, Jr., & Philemon Childress to be employed thereon." (Order Book 1, page 189, Amelia County, Virginia.)

The February 19th 1741 order book record quoted above proves that John Hendrick was living in Amelia County, Va. as early as 1741. He was undoubtedly a very young man in 1741. If he married a daughter of a John Hurt, as he is said to have done it must have been a daughter of a John Hurt who was living in Amelia County at the time. John Hurt of Stocks Creek was the only known John Hurt living in Amelia County at that time, especially a John Hurt who would have been old enough to have been the father of the wife of John Hendrick. This John Hurt of Amelia County was the oldest son of William Hurt, the elder".
