"The story of Lon's death is interesting as it came as the result of a gunshot wound by an escaped convict hiding in his barn. My father (Eugene Verdell Fortson) witnessed the crime and testified in court against the man. My father (he was 8 years old in 1937) also testified to Gene Talmadge, the governor of Georgia at that time, during the convict's unsucessful appeal of his death sentence."

John R. Collins, Henry Northrop, Thomas Northrop, Hampton Northrop, James McCall and Jane McCall his wife which said John R. Collins, Henry and Thomas Northrop, Hampton Northrop and Jane McCall are children of (2) Ann Northrop one of the daughters of John Hampton, decd., Vernon Northrop and Sarah Northrop who are infant children of the said Anna by Matthew Campbell their next friend;

William R. Gibson in his own right and John Gibson children of (4) Sallie Gibson one of the daughters of John Hampton, decd. and Susannah Gibson, Wilson Gibson, Sarah Gibson and Polley Gibson infant children of the aforesaid Sarah Gibson by Owin Gibson their father and next friend;

John Dejarnett and Joseph Dejarnett, Jr., sons of (5) Mary Dejarnett one of the daughters of John Hampton, decd.;
