"This family lived about three-fourths of a mile from Lewis
City, and northwest from the Four Corners meetinghouse, and on
what was called Black River. Several children are said to have
died there and it was thought the place was an unhealthy one.
Alice was taken into Connecticut, where she remained some time
in her girlhood with a family by the name of Douglass. A
tradition states that several members of the family were
celebrated sleepwalkers. [Abigail, daughter of Moses Clark,
Jr.]"
