Satterwhite Family Essex County Records
John Satterwhite of Drisdale Parish, Caroline Co. Will of, dated
Dec. 14, 1772. Lends to wife Ann Satterwhite during her natural
life or widowhood all land and plantation with the Improvements
together with six negroes namely Sawny , Tom , Lett , young Cena
, Sue and Charles, also half of all cattle, sheep & hogs,
likewise one bed & furniture, also all other household
furniture. Lands & improvements thereon (after wife's decease)
to four sons, namely Jeremiah , James , Francis & John to be
equally divided among them.
To son John Satterwhite after wife's decease my negro man Tom .
To daughter Jane Higgonbotham, negro girl Ester , provided she
the sd. Jane or her husband Samuel Higgenbotham returns or pays
unto said estate £60: curr. for the same.
To daughter Sarah Robinson, my negro girl Patt, Provided that
she the sd. Sarah Robinson , or her husband Francis Robinson
returns or pays unto sd. estate £50: for the same.
To son Francis Satterwhite , negro boy Ned , provided he the sd.
Francis returns or pays Back unto my estate £30: curr. for the
same.
To each of my children, Jeremiah , John & Clary one feather bed
& furniture.
The above named negro woman called young Cenor which I have
already lend to my wife, that she should be my wife's Ann
Satterwhite to her & her heirs forever.
To son Jeremiah Satterwhite, my stone.
To daughter Clary Satterwhite , one negro girl called Amy .
To daughter Elizabeth Jeater , negro girl Isbell , provided she
the sd. Elizabeth or her husband Elijah Jeater returns or pays
back unto sd. estate £40: curr. for the same.
To children Jeremiah , Francis , John , Jane , Sarah , Mary ,
Ann & Clary each of them 40s: to be paid out of my estate.
If Negro man Tom is alive at wife's decease that negroes I have
lent her should be equally divided with their increase among all
my children, excepting my son John but he should be dead that
what I have lent my wife Excepting the negro Cenor , which I
have fully given to my wife should be equally divided among all
my children. Remainder of estate of which kind soever I give to
be equally divided among all my children.

for £25: cur. 100 acres (8 foot square except it being a burying
place) in Essex Co. near the head of Occupation Swamp , joyning
the land sd. Hipkins now lives on, being part of patent formerly
granted to Christopher Blockburn . May 13, 1743 . D. B. 23, p.

Graves formerly lived on in claiming a just quantity of 250
acres of land together with ten acres adjoining thereunto that

above 260 acres being in the counties of Essex & Caroline . July
