index. Price $16.00. Order from Mary and E. W. Sandel, 309 E.
Chestnut, Amite, LA 70422. This book is a compilation of
information on Jacksons and related families from all over the
South, largely from published sources and census. The lineage of
Thomas Jonathan (Stonewall) Jackson is prominent in this volume.
Data on such a common surname as Jackson can be helpful in
eliminating some families from research.
John Peter came to SC in 1752 and his descendants are mostly in
the South - from NC, SC, GA, FL, MS, LA, TX, AR and a few in CA
& MI. John Peter most probably came from Germany. There are a
number of indications that the Sandel name began in Sweden and
then spread to England, Germany, the Netherlands and possibly
other European countries. The spelling of the name seems to be
confined to Sandel, Sandal, Sandell and Sandle.
