"As early as 1770, Abraham was a captain in the Virginia Militia. In the militia, he was under the orders of Governor Patrick Henry who coordinated the militia with the army of George Washington during the Revolutionary War. He later accompanied his father, John, and his brother Thomas, from Rockingham Co. Virginia to Kentucky in 1780, settling on Mill Creek.


In 1776 he lead his company in an expedition against the Cherokees (See "Virginia Magazine of History and Biography" October 1922, page 400). He was killed by indians in May, 1786 in Kentucky. The Captain was thought to be "the best of the whole kit and biling of the Lincolns." by some."

aka: Peter de Montfort. A minor at his father's death as his wardship was given to William de Cauntelo; in 1236 he went on a pilgrimage to Santiago with William de Cauntelo, the Younger. He was with the King on the unsuccessful expedition to Poitou in 1242, but in 1245 his lands were confiscated by the King when he attended a prohibited tournament at Cambridge. In 1248 he was overseas with Simon de Montfort & served in Gascony. He accompanied Prince Edward in the summer of his journey to Spain for his marriage to Eleanor of Castile. In Feb 1258 he was appointed a commissioner to arrange a truce with Llewelyn, Prince of Wales. When the King renewed his struggle with the barons in 1261, he was elected one of the 3 arbitrators to negotiate with the King, & later he was one of the magnates who besieged & took Worcester, 28 Feb. 1262/3. However, he was captured when Northampton Castle fell to the King in AprilI 1264 & was for a short time imprisoned in Windsor Castle until being released by the victorious baronial party after the Battle of Lewes. During the dominance of Simon de Montfort, Earl of Leicester, he received many commissions & grants, but was slain at the Battle of Evesham, 4 Aug. 1265.
