I am wondering if any of the Hodges families living now in
Caswell Co. can trace their ancestry to any Hodges living in or
around Dobbs or Craven Counties in the early 1700's. In
particular to a Francis Hodges 1715-1794 married to Frances
Carruthers. Known sons were Francis Hodges, Jr., Hardy Hodges,
Richard Hodges, John Hodges and Joshua Hodges b. Oct 13 1736 in
Dobbs Co., NC, d. Mar 5 1809 in Bulloch Co., GA. I am a native
of Bulloch Co., GA (now living in Person Co. (Hyco Lake), NC and
a direct descendant of Francis Hodges through his son Joshua.
Would love to find out if any of my "neighbor" Hodges' are
related.
Hi, Josie. Unfortunately, I have very little concrete
information on Francis Hodges. What I do have mainly came from
the research of Bob Peavy, Smith Banks, and a couple of other
serious Hodges researchers. No info on parents or siblings b.
abt 1715, Martin Co., NC (haven't been able to verify this date
or place, but several Hodges researchers show this) d. abt 1794,
place unknown

1. Francis Hodges, Jr. (no further info)
2. Hardy Hodges (NFI)
3. Richard Hodges (NFI)
4. John Hodges (NFI)
5. Joshua Hodges b. 13 Oct 1736, Dobbs Co., NC; d. 5 Mar 1809,
Bulloch Co.GA) Mar. Ann Raiford abt. 1760 in NC. Ann Raiford
was b. abt 1738 in New Bern, NC; d. abt 1800 in Bulloch Co., GA.
(This is my Hodges line)
NOTE: Several researchers seem to believe there were also other
children, but have not come up with names.
