Recent Y-Chromosome DNA tests taken by direct male descendants
of Jesse Lindsey, a known son of Mary Barkdale Lindsey Hurst,
and of Henry Lindsey Sr., an almost certainly known son of
William Lindsey, proved to be a near-perfect match. However, the
descendant of Jesse had an exact match with a line of Lindsays
from North Carolina, so the results proved a relationship, but
not what the relationship was.
a descendant of the Jesse Lindsey/Leah Hurst marriage has a
25/26, or almost perfect match, with a descendant of Henry
Lindsey Sr. of Carroll.
That shows that both sets of Lindseys are definitely related.
However, and it's a big however, the Jesse Lindsey descendant
has a 26/26, or perfect, match with some Lindseys and Lindsays
of a North Carolina line. It may be a while before we figure
this out; it may take more tests. Stay tuned. But at least I
know I'm related to the descendants of both those Hurst/Lindsey
marriages in Greene County, TN, two different ways. Group 3 on
the Lindsey site, among the NC lines, there is one VA one.

the belief of this Lindsey lineage that the father of Jesse
Lindsey Sr., was William Lindsey b. Feb. 7, 1731 Essex County,
VA, d. 1786 VA, married Mary Barksdale b. 1734 Caroline County,
