As for the link to Samuel Lee for Thomas Lee, I think the Prince
George records, though burned by visitors from the North, do
show a division of Samuel's estate between his sons, including
Thomas and Lodowick. Lodowick married Sally Clements first and,
after his death, Sally married Lodowick's brother Thomas. The
half sibling/first cousin relationships of their children made
divisions of the family land in Amherst troublesome. In any
event, when Lodowick's son Stith Lee reached his majority, he
returned to the Petersburg area where he was in a farm supply
business. My side of the family (Thomas' children) maintained
correspondence with Stith Lee and his family for many years.
So, when one sees Samuel Lee's lands in Prince George being
divided among brothers Lodowick and Thomas, and the son of one
of them returns to Petersburg, well the link becomes fairly
clear. I have also seen in the estate records for Thomas Lee a
bill, perhaps from Stith Lee, for transporting slaves from
Prince George to Amherst which gives another link to Samuel Lee.
And if you really want more, consider the name of Lodowick's
daughter, Susannah Bonner Lee."
