"You have a lot of the correct information as for the Goode family Thomas Harris (will 1730 Henrico) and his wife Mary Jefferson Harris (will 1745 Henrico) did have two sons not generally included they both died single with wills in Henrico co. Thomas left land to his brother John who md Ursula Jordan of Henrico co. Francis died later leaving his troopers arms to his mother. So John is NOT JOHN FRANCIS==

John md Ursula Jordan who had 2 brothers and a father Jordan who left a will in Henrico John and Ursula are found on deeds in Goochland co. They lived in Henrico but their property fell into Goochland when that county was erected in 1727 and it remained just where it always was on the SS of the James. So they were md before 1727.

Johns elder sister did marry a Goode and had several children by him before he died she then md 2. Captain Francis James.

The Goode family included many children (more than 12 if I remember correctly) and Ursula Goode was near the bottom and would have had to be 11 or 12 at best to marry John Harris.

Johns brother Benjamin also md in Henrico co to Frances Platt and had a couple of daughters before Frances died he then md Priscilla Wager d of Wm Wager clerk of court.

You will find deeds for John and Ursula and also Benj and Frances Platt in Goochland Records I think both boys md into some money and in fact Benjamin sued his brother in laws for his wifes inheritance John never md again after his wifes death and you will find his will in 1750 in Cumberland co when the land in Goochland on the SS of the James fell back into Cumberland co = they did not move the counties kept changing.

I have all of Thomas and Mary Jeffersons children documented and have the grandchildren as well which I am willing to share as for Johns illeg son with Eliz Robards I am still looking for him I believe John left some land to one of his friends without mentioning Jesse but I believe he was provided for in a roundabout way still looking Fran

Turff&Twiggs; Va Hist Mag author thinks she is Ursala Goode; many have her as Ursala Jordan because of son's name, Jordan I think. She might be Ursala Goode, dau of John Goode of Chesterfield Co, next door neighbor of John Harris, who maybe married first a Mr Jordan and as his widow married John Harris. She might be Ursala Jourdan of the Manikintown Jourdans? [S2256] [S812] [S2658]

"Sotterley Plantation had been in the hands of the Platers since George Plater II married the widow of James Bowles, its builder in 1729. George II with his wife Rebecca Bowles Plater left the plantation to George III, who became the sixth Governor of Maryland. George III with his wife Elizabeth Rousby Plater in turn left everything to their son George IV.

He was married to the beautiful Elizabeth Rousby of Calvert County. Together, they had six children, Rebecca, George IV who would inherit Sotterley, John, Thomas, Edward, and Ann. Life for the Governor and Mrs. Plater and their family was opulent. Legend says that every receptacle in every bedroom was made from solid silver and marked with the family crest and that even the slaves who ate in the kitchen used silver forks. There was so much treasure to be found in the manor house, that eventually word got to the famed pirate, "Long Arm", who had been operating successfully in Virginia, and occasionally in the Chesapeake. On one cold and cloudy morning in November, Long Arm and his men anchored offshore, and thinking they would only encounter ladies and servants, headed for the house armed to the teeth. As luck would have it, the Governor was not in the fields that day, but having a post fox hunt breakfast with his friends. He saw the pirate's vessel from the large dining room windows overlooking the harbor, and went into action. He sent the women and servants to the woods, and he and his friends, heavily armed, stood at the ready. As Long Arm approached, the Governor threw open the door while his friends opened fire. They killed two men and seriously injured Long Arm, while the remaining crew scurried to the ship.

George Plater III died in Annapolis on February 10, 1792 three months after being elected Governor. He was eulogized in the Maryland Gazette on February 14, 1792:

"....he was a firm and dedicated advocate of the rights of man, and was distinguished by a warm and zealous adherence to the principles of the American Revolution. In private life, he lived amiably, and died an honest man, exempt from all suspicion of improper actions, warm in his affections, and unbounded in his philanthropy."

His body was taken to Sotterley, where he was buried. It remains a mystery just where the body is buried. It was originally reported that he was buried in the family vault, but there is none. It was later reported that he was buried in the rose garden, but his remains have yet to be discovered." http://www.sotterley.com/plater.htm
