NEWSPAPER:Death notice, NC., Duplin Co., Col. Thomas Routledge,
d Sept 22, 1801, from Raleigh Register and SC State Gazette by
Carrie L. Broughton, State Lib. US NCar, V2, N81, pg 139
L. Andrea file, pg 74-75, will of Thomas Rutledge, Duplin Co.,
NC., Thomas reported to be age 73 at death.
WILL:Will, Book A, p 411; Colonial Granvillle Co., and Its
People, "The Lost Tribes of N.C. by Worth S. Ray,--will names
son Thomas Routledge and step sons James & Edward Pearsall. Land
to Son Thomas Routledge on Duck River in Tenn, 1/3 of which
belongs to John Dickson, of Cumberland Co., NC. Dr. William
Dickson is empowered to sell said land. Grandson Thomas
Routledge, son of Thomas and granddaughter, Catherine Routledge,
and dau Sarah Leddon. Says he is in his 73 yr. (The grand dau,
Catherine must be the dau of another son who may be deceased)
TAX RECORD:1786 List of Capt. Gillespie Co., taken by Thomas
Rutledge, April 1786, Duplin Co., NC pg 1--1 Thomas Rutledge, 1
male 0ver 20 under 60, 3 males under 20 and over 60, 3 females
and 4 slaves.(This would mean he had 3 sons and 2 daus)
In the will of Christoper Dudley, 1764, Duplin Co., NC, he
mentions his dau who is wife of Thomas Rutledge.

Sep. 1785, 200 acres in Duplin Co. on East side of NE and the N
side of Mathews branch, joining Soloman Carter and Moses
Standley lines, including William Bovins improvements, beginning
at a Popular, said Cartoe's corner at a Poplin in the mouth of
the Juniper and runs with Carters line E 115 poles to a pine on
Stanleys Line.

Bk 3A pg 118, 2260 acres 16 Jan 1797, Benjamin Liddon and Sarah
his wife of Co. of Duplin and Thomas Routledge of Co. of Duplin
on the other part;
Benjamin Liddon and Sarah fro $2000 from Thomas Rutledge, tract
of land, Davidson, State of Tenn. on the waters of Stones River,
joining Archibald Lytle and William Mitchells land containing by
patent 2560 acres, lands which was granted Sarah Routledge, heir
at law of Lt. William Routlide, deceased and the present wife of
Benjamin Liddon.
:976.8 R2b, NC Land Grants in Tenn 1778-1791 (copy of grant
dated Dec 1790, Middle Dist 1790) pg 107, Takes place of 1790
census of the Part of NC which became Tenn in 1796--grant #2985,
Thomas Routledge, 1,100 acres on S. Side Duck River.
