Abraham Buckholts (1729-1812) was major of the Cheraw regiment, South Carolina, 1775. He was born in Germany; died in Mississippi.

No. 134 15 November 1818 Jonathan Eubank, Amherst county from William Noel, Amherst County. $1 120 acres N borders Maple Creek and bought by Jonathan Eubank from Zachariah Taylor and sold by Jonathan Eubank to Jonathan Goodrich; by will of Jonathan Goodrich to Randolph Hogg who married Jonathan Goodrich's daughter Polly. Sold by Randolph Hogg to Thomas N. Eubank and by him to Lindsay Burks and by him to William Noel. Lines: Jonathan Hogg's tract, Ware, Taylor, and where William Noel lives.

Notes

Will of Anthony Thornton, Gentleman of Ormsby, Caroline County,Virginia August 27th 1778. My will is that all my Estate in Orange County be equally divided between my sons Charles Thornton, Peter Thornton, Presley Thornton and Reuben Thornton and in the case either of them should died before they marry or arrive at the age of twenty-one years or without issue lawfully begotten then the whole to be divided amongst the surviving ones and in case of death of the whole, then it is my will that the whole be divided between by four youngest sons, viz: Henry Fitzhugh, William, John and Thomas Griffin Thornton and their heirs forever.
Item. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Susannah my whole estate in Caroline County except the legacies hereafter mentioned during her natural life and after her death or in her lifetime as she shall choose to be equally divided between by four sons. I give my son George Thornton the Land he now lives on and one negroe Girl names Rachel.

Item. I give my daughter Buckner one negroe woman called Rose. I give my son Anthony a mourning Ring.

And Lastly I appoint Col. Henry Fitzhugh, my son Anthony Thornton and my beloved wife Susanna Thornton Executors of this my Last will revoking all others before by me made.

At a Court held for Caroline County on Thursday the 14th day of August One Thousand Seven hundred and Eighty-three This will was present in Court for probate; the Court being satisfied that it is the handwriting of the said decedent ordered the same recorded. On the motion of Susanna Thornton, one of the Executors therein named, a Certificate for obtaining a probate there of is granted her, Oath Administered, bond acknowledged and ordered to be recorded.

Whereas, certain lands in Spotsylvania Co. were mortgaged the sd. Tayloe by Thomas Poole, and whereas, a suit to foreclose the sd. Mortgage, and a judgment has been obtained in Spotsylvania Co. Court in June, 1772, failure having been made by the sd. Poole in paying the sd. indebtedness, and in consequence the sd. Smith, as Sheriff, sold the sd. land in lots and parcels, the sd. Roger Dixon, was in his lifetime seized and possessed of Lots 254, 264, 272 in town of Fredericksburg., and sold them to Benjamin Grymes, Esqr., who (notwithstanding no deeds were made to him by the sd. Dixon), being possessed thereof, assigned and made over unto Presley Thornton and Wm. Fitzhugh, Esqrs., all his right, title, etc., and whereas, the trustees having agreed with the sd. Jones and Woodford for the sale of the lots, and having also made satisfaction to the sd. Lucy Dixon for her right and claim of Dower therein, the sd. Elizabeth, was in his lifetime and during the coverture of the sd. Elizabeth, seized of a tract of land in Spotsylvania Co., containing 3333 a. and is the same tract whereon sd. Dangerfield now lives, the sd. Elizabeth being entitled to 1/3 part thereof, after the death of sd. Henry Willis, etc., the sd. Elizabeth, having remained seized thereof ever since, etc. Sd. Thornton and Elizabeth, his wife, convey to sd. Dangerfield the sd. Elizabeth's dower in the sd. tract, in consideration of £200 curr. 4 July 1768.
