says he was a lawyer and a member of the state legislature, died
in Louisville, Ky. Dec. 1836; Father: Capt. John WINSTON Mother:
Nancy OVERTON.
"Horation Gates Winston married 1811 in Louisa Co. VA, Clarissa
Morris. The Richmond Whig and Public Advertiser, Friday, 2
December 1836, quotes the Louisville (Ky.) Journal: Died: in
Louisville, KY at the residence of Dr. William Cochran, Gen.
Horation G. Winston....After a tedious journey with his wife and
two children, and son in law of thirty-eight days from Virginia
during which time he labored under distressing disease, he
arrived in this city on the 21st October and ceased to exist on
the 24th.
He had left Virginia with the view of becoming a permanent
resident among us. ....He was known as a profound and successful
lawyer, and was in the councils of his native State, Virginia,
as a member of its legislature, and of the the Senate
....Possessing ample wealth.."
