Source: Gresham AWYSI Newsletter: After his brother, Sir John
died, Sir Edward became the sole heir to all of his father's
possessions plus Gresham properties inherited from Sir Thomas
Gresham of London. Sir Edward entered at Queen's College, Oxford
July 6, 1604 and was admitted of Inner Temple November 1608. One
of the King's Body Guard. Knighted at Theobald's November 12,
1617. On the Roll of Gentlemen Pensioners 1618.
After the death of Sir Edward's wife, Mary Clerke (before 1626),
he disinherited their son, Thomas. The only mention of their
other two sons, John and Edward, is found in a deeb dated
11-13-1630. This deeb is mentioned in the Tanridge Hundred
Chart, page 493. It has been suggested that all three of the
sons were disinherited, but this is not proven.
Source: Gresham Any Way You Spell It Newsletter: Roger de
Gresham's descendants bore the name de Gresham. He was a
benefactor (with his wife) to Marrig Priory, York.
Held Manor of Gresham and Alymorton by the service of two
knights fees from Earl Warrene. In 1241, with a Writ of Summons,
Peter de Bvranche passed into France fair and freed Earl
Warrene. This earned Peter de Bvranche two knight fees.
