"Biographical sketch:Much speculation has been made concerning
Uriah Edwards, Sr., and his brothers. From an old letter we
learn that he arrived in North America about the year 1735/6 and

state that he settled in the state of VA., while his brother,
Robert went to New York, his other brother, John settled in VA.
also (p. 5).
From the County records of Spotsylvania County, VA., Uriah
Edwards, Sr., can be placed without a doubt in that county for
approximately 30 years, beginning with the first entry in the
records in the year 1753. His whereabouts prior to this date is
as this writing unknown to the writers of this family history
(p. 5).
According to family tradition, Uriah, Robert and John Edwards
came to New York some year s prior to the Revolution. Prior to
the year 1749, Uriah removed to VA. His brother, John settled in
Lancaster County, and his younger brother Robert is thought to
have never migrated to the colony of VA. (p. 5).

17 Aug 1781. In the year 1749 , he married Mildred Head, the

Head Edwards removed to KY. with her children in the year
1789/90, and died in the vicinity of Franklin County, KY in the

Uriah Edwards, Sr., and h is wife, Mildred Head Edwards, and
John Saunders and Jane, his wife, was sold by John Cammack and
Ann, his wife, in Berkeley Parish, Spotsylvania County, VA. for
the sum of 50 pounds current money of VA., being 84 acres, to Mr
. Charles Burrage of the same county and state. This deed was
recorded 6 Nov 1792 (p. 5).
