"Hello, I was fishin' on the internet and found your "MY
SOUTHERN FAMILY" site. I am also researching a Lawson
Higginbotham, but it appears to be a different one then yours.
But, I know when your researching you sometimes document others
of the same name (especially one like Lawson!). So I thought I'd
ask and see if you have any clues for me.
My wife's 3rd gr grand. was a Lawson Higginbotham (b: 1822 TN).
His wife was Julia (b:1818, OH). In 1850 they are living in
Greene Co, Arkansas. In 1860 and 1870 they are in Dunklin Co,
MO. The family eventually went to Stoddard Co, MO. Their son
William Jasper H. (b:1841, m: Elizabeth Riddle 1861) is my
wife's 2nd gr grand. Other siblings are Francis Marion (1838, m:
Agnes Riddle 1857), Sarah E (1845), John W (1847), James F
(1951) and
Harrison (1854).
Anyway, if you have any clues or are interested in this branch,

All funeral expenses and debts are to be paid.
Ann Gatewood, deceased daughter, was wife of Col. Ed. Fort.
Their son, Whitman, receives $500.00;
their son George W. gets $100.00 and the note for $350.00 which
I paid for him at Logan County National Bank in Russellville.
Residue of estate, real and personal, goes to son Jesse Gatewood
and daughter, Frances Grimes, to be equally divided. Jesse's
part is to be held in trust by sister Francis. If Jesse dies,
bulk to go to sister Francis Grimes. If Jesse survives her, then
at his death the bulk is to be divided between Francis'
children.
Written: 10 Sept 1878 Signed with mark [x] Executors: Frances
