Mother: Laressa Merle SWARTZ |
To my regret, I only saw Aunt Frankie once when she made a visit
to Shreveport, LA. I was about 12 years old. My brother
visited her in Los Angeles once. He was impressed with her
spiritual powers, but did not understand it at the time. Later
he grew in his understanding of the metaphysical.
All admired her beautiful southern ways. Jo Ray gave me some
tapes she made of Aunt Frankie's discourses. She had a lovely
southern Alabama drawl and a keen wit.
I often wondered why Aunt Frankie was so remote from us her dead
brothers children; perhaps it was our attitude that she and her
religion was gooky. We lived in different worlds.
Aunt Frankie went to Vanderbilt in Nashville, TN from Athens,
AL; while there she contracted tuberculosis. She received a
miraculous cure from "laying on of the hands". After her
parents moved to Shreveport, LA it was decided that she should
go to Taos, New Mexico for the dry climate. Her Aunt Lutie
Lindsay Saxon and Judge Saxon were living in New Mexico at the
time. She met Mr. Murray there and they married. At that time
he was a Methodist Minister.
