before 1787 - he removed from Edgefield county SC and farmed land adjacent to his brother Thomas.
before 1790 - moved into Wilkes county, Georgia.
1793 - His land fell into Warren county when Warren was created from Wilkes.
1794 - show on the Tax List for Warren county; in Neals District.
19 May 1794 - he and his brother Joseph are appointed to administer their brother Thomas's estate in Warren county.
21 Mar 1795 - bought 322 acres on both sides of Long Creek. This was part of land granted to his brother Thomas.
28 Dec 1795 - bought 75 acres on Goldings Fork (county not named).
24 Oct 1796 - sold the 322 acres on both sides of Long Creek.
circa 1796 - moved to Washington county Georgia.
1805 - registered for the Land Lottery in Washington county; did not win.
1805 - visited West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana with his son John. He left John with friends and returned to Washington county to get the rest of the family and move to West Feliciana Parish.
Some sources show he left just ahead of his creditors.
23 Dec 1808 - Courtland Smith petitioned the Spanish Governor for appointment of a guardian for the children of James Boon, and for restitution of the children's property improperly held and used by their father.
Smith stated his standing to plead as having married one of the daughters of James Boon. He alleged that Boon had come to Feliciana from the United States bringing with him several children by his late wife, and some negroes and other property which had been his wife's separate property and now belonged to her children. Further, that the father, James Boon, had been using and wasting this property, and that his recent behavior had been such that the two younger children had left him and were now living with Smith.
11 Jan 1809 - James Boon swears that he has possession of a negro wench Jenny who has children and grandchildren to the number of 18, and was the property of his first wife Eunice Waters.
25 Oct 1809 - State of Carolina, Dist. of Pendleton, James Jett J.P.
Affidavit of Ratliff Boon and Nancy Boon his wife, that the negro woman Jean was Eunice Boon's Affidavit ratified by John Taliaferro Lewis, Clerk of Ct., Pendleton District, South Carolina.


The Spanish Governor appointed Courtland Smith guardian of all of James Boon's minor children and ordered that Jenny and her increase be restored to the children to defray Smith's expenses of guardianship.

"Maryland Genealogies", "Smith Family of Calvert County" by Christopher Johnston has "Walter Smith of Hall's Croft, also called "of the Freshes," since Hall's Craft was in the Freshes of the Patuxent not far from Lower Marlboro, was born about 1692 and died in 1734. His will, dated 22 March 1731, was proved 13 March 1733/4. He represented Calvert County in the Assembly from 1719 to 1722 (House Journals), was High Sheriff in 1725, and was a Justice of the County from 1726 until his death. He was Deputy Commissary of Calvert from 1722 to 9 May 1730, when he resigned (Test.Proc.). He was elected church warden of All Saints Parish 10 Nov. 1715, and was vestryman from 7 April 1729 till 4 April 1732, when he was succeeded by his brother Richard (All Saints Vestry Book)."
