"Jesse Suttle, b. N.C. about 1775, m. Sarah Willis in Elbert County, Georgia, about 1797. They moved eastward across the Coosa River to join members of their family who had recently settled in the land the Creek Indians were then vacating for homes beyond the Mississippi River. The Suttle settlement in Coosa county was in the environs of Nixburg. Here Jesse Suttle, in early 1836, bought a parcel of land from an Indian who had not yet departed. After receiving the money, the Indian departed in good spirit, but sometime later he returned in a drunken stupor, and shot and killed Jesse Suttle on May 16, 1836.


The Children of Jesse and Sarah Suttle were:
William Suttle, b. GA. 1800. He moved to Coosa County from Bibb County. He was married in Bibb County to Mary ------.
John Willis Suttle, b. GA. 1805, m. Bibb Co. Mary Ann Goodwin, Oct. 16, 1834. She was the daughter of General Julius Goodwin. They remained in Bibb County. John entered politics and became Probate Judge. He died in 1874.
Isaac W. Suttle, b. GA. 1808, d. Coosa County 1884. He married in bibb County to Louisa McCary, June 30, 1830, d. Coosa County 1871. She was the daughter of Richard McCary, the Revolutionary War Soldier. Isaac entered politics and became the Probate Judge of Coosa County about 1850.
Nancy Suttle, b. GA. Married in Bibb County to William Howard on September 11, 1823. They moved to Coosa County about the time the county was created from the Creek Indian lands in 1832.
Elizabeth suttle, b. GA. 1810. She married George Johnson, February 9, 1828. They moved to Coosa County.
Mary Ann Suttle, b. GA., married Stephen D. Ray. They moved to Coosa County.
Cynthia suttle, b. GA. Married in Bibb County to Wiley Thompson, April 26, 1828. They moved to Texas."
