  2.  Frances Louisa NETTLES
  3.  Celia Moore NETTLES
  4.  Joseph NETTLES
  5.  Robert Schofield NETTLES
  6.  Josiah D. NETTLES Jr.

Notes

"Josiah & Nancy and the 3 young children are buried in Rosehill Cemetery, E. Feliciana Parish, LA. All dates are from their tombstones. Josiah was a partner in Nettles & Prescott, a mercantile establishment & was quite wealthy when he died. The children were all well educated. The 3 surviving children had several different tutors (the LA word for guardian)."

Josiah lost everything in the WBTS-destroyed by the yankees. Cindy Wrote: "I do have a copy of his pension app if you don't. His affidavit is really sad to read, knowing how much property he had prior to the war & now he is destitute. He must have been a bitter old man at the end (justifiably so). We have a family story about our ancestor (Samuel S. Nettles of St. Helena Parish), who would have been some sort of cousin to Josiah D. - after the war, Sam used to sit on the front porch with a shotgun across his lap & chase off the "Yankee peddlers" who would come around."
