Subject: Bedford Co., VA as referred to on your website
Date: Sun, 19 Aug 2001
I came across your website from Cyndi's List and found a link (I
think). I have been researching John and Charity Bryant Booth
of Bedford Co., VA from the late 1700's. I have really been
researching the Booth surname, but have come to a "brick wall"
so I have been researching the Bryant/Bryan line to see if I can
find out anything about them that way. I have very little to go
on & have been trying to prove what I have. Here is my
information:
Bedford County, Virginia Marriage Bonds --Nov 22, 1802; John
Boothe & Charity Bryant; Isaac Stratton, Surety; Consent of Mary
Jackson; Married by Jeremiah Hatcher, Nov. 25, 1802.
Abstracts of Bedford County, Virginia Wills, Inventories and
Accounts 1754-1787 abstracted , edited & published by Miss Joida
Whitten. Taylor Pub., Dallas.page 19-20
(page 75-76) William Bryan. Accounts (Indexed in Will Book 1 as
“Bryant’s Settlement”)
“Mr. Jervice Jackson to the Estate of William Bryans Decd.”
Mentioned: “Sale of William Bryan’s Personal Estate”; 400 acres
of land sold in Amherst”; Wm. Fowler; Cornelias Thomas; Joseph
Goodwin; Edmd. Fair; George Anderson; James Callaway; David
Wright; David Cox; John Bush; John Goodwin; Wm. Fowler; Wm.
Candler; Charety Bryan; Nathaniel Davis; “By your wife’s part of
Bryans Estate”. Examined: 21 November 1768...”I have settled and
adjusted the accounts current of the estate of William Bryan
Deceased and find that Jervice Jackson owes the Orphens of
William Bryans 44 pounds 3 shillings and 9 pence half penny...”
(Signed) Isham Talbot Returned: 22 November 1768
I have linked the Mary Jackson that gave her consent to Charity
Bryant & John Boothe's marriage to the Jervice Jackson mentioned
in the William Bryan will. That is where I stand, so when I saw
your information, which is the following:
William Bryant, ID NO. I24401
The deed: 5 Aug 1763 - Henry Trent of Amherst County buys from
William Bryant of Bedford County for 150 pounds 400 acres north
side and adjoining Fluvana River, John's Creek and Richard
Tillis.
I was wondering if these were the same William Bryant & if you
might have any other information or contacts to see if I can
prove these are the same people. The other Bryant/Bryan & Booth
researchers of Bedford County has no information on any of the
above people. I appreciate anything you can provide to help me,
thanks, Vicky
