In the name of God Amen I John Powell of the State of South
Carolina, Darlington District, considering the uncertainty of
This Mortal life and being of sound mind and memory blessed be
All Mighty God for the same, do make and publish this my last
and Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to
say, first I Give bequeath unto the heirs of my daughter, Sarah
Moor, diseast, the heirs of her Body One Hundred a piece
Dollars. I also give and bequeath unto the heirs of my son,
James Powell, diseast, One Hundred Dollars a piece. I also give
and bequeath unto the Heirs of my Daughter Ann, Husband diseast,
The Heirs of her Body, One Hundred Dollars a piece. Which said
legacies of or sums of money I will and order shall be paid out
of my Estate to the respective Heirs within six months after my
diseast. I further give and devise unto my son William Powell,
Catherine Ann Norwood and Margarit Stephens, my son & my
daughters, Equally, all of my Negro property Lands and premises
at my diseast to them and to their Heirs forever and lastley as
to all of the rest only and the first mentioned legacies to be
paid out of my Estate and remainder of my personal Estate Goods
and Chattles of what kind and nature so ever I leave to settle
all of my Just debts & if there shuld be a remainder or being
Equal protion amongst the Executors for their services do Hereby
nominate and appoint my son William Powell, John Norwood Exor
and Margarit Stephens Executrix and hereby revoking all former
wills made by me in witness Whereof I do hereunto Set my hand
and Seal the 5th day of February in the year of our Lord 1834
