1. "Henry Briscoe, who was born in February 1762, in Queen Ann
Co., Maryland and was a soldier in the Revolutionary War etc.
His parents were Philip Briscoe whose wife was a Foster."
2. Revolutionary War; at the surrender of Cornwallis.
3. DAR. Henry Briscoe (1763-1839) received a pension for service
as private in Captain Lynn's company, Maryland troops. He was
born in Maryland; died in Illinois.
5. Alternate Birth: February 1762, Queen Ann Co., MD.
6. Military Beginning: 1781, Leonardtown, Maryland.
7. Pension: 1833, Kentucky. 1835 Federal Pension List for
Kentucky: Henry Briscoe, Jefferson County, Private, Maryland
Line, $20.00 annual allowance; $60.00 amount received: February
27, 1833 pension started at age 72.
8. Residence: 1835, Clark Co., Illinois. Henry Briscoe
immigrated from Jefferson Co., Kentucky in the fall of 1835,
landing in what is now Westfield Township, October 76? and
located on 120 acres. Here the parents (Henry and Catherine)
died and were buried on the farm. Henry Briscoe died in October
of 1839 and his wife in September of 1836. He raised a family of
11 children, all of whom live to be married and raised families.
Marriage 1 ? LATTIMORE
"Henry Briscoe the father of our subject (my great uncle John
B.) was twice married, first to a Miss Lattimore, daughter of
Judge Lattimore, of a prominent family in Maryland. After his
marriage he removed to Jefferson Co., Kentucky, in 1779 and
engaged in farming. His wife died on the route where Cincinnati
now stands. Had a large family by his first wife all of whom
settled in that county, except Nancy who married Burk Jones and
settled in Clark Co., Indiana.

Catherine Bookharte daughter of Jacob. Henry Briscoe in 1803
married Catherine Bookhart, who was born near Boonesboro,
Virginia a daughter of Jacob Bookhart and Catherine Keller, both
of German extraction.
