LDS records only show 8 children, but the Bundy/Brooks book
shows three additional offspring, which are included herein. The
whereabouts of Absolom and his family are difficult to trace,
but it would appear that he lived in North Carolina until about
1770, then moved to Alabama by 1771, then to Green Co., Ga. by
1776, and then to St. Clair Co., Alabama, where he died in 1827,
or 1806, depending upon which record is used.
The Bundy/Brooks record shows that Absolom deeded 152 acres of
land by the Coosa River at Greensport, Alabama to his sons,
James, Enoch and George on 26 May 1824. Since there is no
Greensport Alabama shown on current maps the exact location of
this land is unknown, but it thought that it is somewhere in St.
Clair County since the record shows that Absolom died in
Greensport and we know that he died in St. Clair County. There
is a family story, perhaps apocryphal, that Absolom died on "the
night that stars fell on Alabama". If the story is true that
would have been November 13, 1833 when a large meteor shower was
seen all over the eastern states.

Greensport was never a "city" or "town"; it was (and is) more or
less a neighborhood. It is located in the northeastern part of
St Clair Co up to the present day Etowah Co line. A good deal of
the area was flooded and now under water when a dam was built on
the Coosa 35 or so years ago.
