Subject: [SCMARLBO-L] DAR

"This might help someone trying to get into the DAR under Jesse Vining. He was the son of Jesse Vining and Ann Hilson. Jesse (2d) married Phoebe Pledger the daughter of Philip Pledger. Jesse served for 36 days in l782-83 in Col Benton's Regt of SC Militia. He also furnished a hog for provisions. There are some people who have listed Jesse as having Elizabeth Vining who married William Evans and Anna Vining who married Aaron Pearson as his daughters. This is not true and anyone joining the DAR using Jesse and Elizabeth and Anna are not eligible. Elizabeth and Anna were the daughters of Thomas Vining, the uncle of Jesse who was in the Rev War. There are deeds that I plan to type up to prove that Thomas gave to his beloved daughters Elizabeth Evans and Anna Pearson some of his belongings. There are at least two people that I know of who have joined or either used Jesse as a 2d line in the DAR. Since the JAW Thomas information was not correct, the DAR will not use it as proof anymore. You must submit better information."
