The following was copied from a document once in the possession
of Jasper Stafford received from Maxine Stafford, P. O. Box 85,
Liberty, Kentucky, 42539:
"The following names were taken from a record in possession of
William Stafford residing at Peaks Mill, Franklin County, KY the
time Aug 5th 1904 and by J. Stafford.
____ents on the paternal side of Jasper Stafford. Leah
Westerfield was born Nov 16, 1760. William Stafford was married
to Leah Westerfield July 8th, 1783. Patsy Stafford (Partlow) was
born Nov 13th, 1792. James Stafford was born June 1, 1786. Wm.
Stafford was born June 3rd 1788. Hiram Roland Stafford was born
Nov 16th 1803.
__ents on the maternal side of Jasper Stafford. John Hunter born
in the year 1764. Died 1837 age at death 73 years. Ann Hunter
born 1757 died 1844 age 87 years. Taken from tomstone Aug 11,
1915 by J. Stafford _____shaw.
Stafford entry, according to Old Ky Entries and Deeds. Book 2
page 10----7-/31-1783 on Cedar Creek._____a party of seven
Indians came across from ____ Owen County (into what is now
Franklin County) crossing ______Gap (from which post(?) the
place took its name. Two _____ an attack on a man by the name of
________Stafford."
Also on this document are some notes about Wm Stafford, born
1607, estate inventoried 1644, married Rebecca Hotten 1635. In
land grant to him was provision (transportation) Christopher
Stafford Feb 2 1657 his son Humphrey Stafford to whom Mrs. _____
willed a negro in 1664. Jul 26, 1671 Robert Ruffin guardian of
orphans of Benedie Stafford. Next few words are illegible then:
Humphrey Stafford was son of Elizabeth daughter of Thomas Cocks
of Cocks Hall in ________ illegible ________ Staffordshire,
England. Then thereafter this family _______ illegible. Next is
a list of sources for this info: Calendar of VA Estates State
papers. Herring Statutes of VA; Lower Norfolk County Register;
