"May 13, 1784 Thomas Gregory was paid 1 pound 5 shillings 4
pence for his services in the Revolutionary War (Ref: Auditors'
account No. XVLLI page 655 in LVA)
Certification from a list of soldiers of the VA State
Continental Establishment as received certificates for the
balance of their pay as per act of the Assembly, passed in the
session of 1781; and a certificate was issued to Thomas Gregory
April 13, 1781, as a soldier of the Infantry, for 25 pounds 17
shillings and 10 pence, he having served under Col. Cabell as
Commander. (See Census Record of Chesterfield County, VA)
Certified date in file case No. 317189 (National), Census 1840 -
Pensioners Page 129, Pension Book 2, Page 85, Chesterfield
County, VA. Thomas Gregory was placed on the Pension Rolls of
Virginia for a soldier who had served in the Revolutionary War
and he was placed on 2-27-1835, his pension began 5-4-1831, and
his age is given as 83 at that time.

The family homes of Thomas Gregory are referred to as: Hampton
and Elams in his will.
In a paper written by Thurlow Gates Gregory he refers to Thomas
Gregory:" as the head of the first of the Gregory families of
"Rockwood" born in Chesterfield County in the year 1750 was a
veteran of the Revolutionary War. He lived to be a very old
religiously upright man, greatly beloved. he was a successful
large-scale farmer. He prospered and reared an educated family
several of whom were well versed in law. He left a considerable
estate for that era."

deceased. Robert Yates died without settling the estate of
