Notes

"Will dtd 20 May 1800 pr 12 Apr 1803. About 1761 he and a group moved to Halifax Co. VA, then to Pitts Co. VA by June 1767; then on to Henry Co. by 1779. Between 1785/88, he went to Columbia Co. GA, where he bought land 1788 and died there. Children listed in order of will. Dunn Lineage gives another order.

He was in court many times. He was always in debt, being sued, etc. It appears he might have been somewhat of a scoundrel where money was concerned, but a charming one. Everyone was ready to forgive & get involved with him again.

Sarah Gatewood inheirted the home & larger share of her mother's est. Her uncle, George Reeves, who was to live in the home place with girls, moved to Spots Co. VA with Elizabeth and Patience after Sarah m. Waters, who was noted for his lack of judgement in handling money, and promptly mortgaged some of the slaves left his wife. (the slaves left her, had the same names as the ones he sold. Sarah is not to be confused with Sarah Gatewood, dau of Thomas Gatewood & Elizabeth Dudley.)"
