1880 Census places Zachariah's family near Greensburgh, St.
Helena Parish, LA.
"There are supposed to be 3 additional children, but I don't
have those possibilities straight in my head. There's room for
one between Anne Eliza and Mary Ellenore, I guess, and 1 or 2
between John and Lemuel--------or who knows? Geo W is
definitely 1st, and with ZG's 1868 death, presume Lemuel is
last."

Subject: Whiteley
My name is Ken Maddin. My mother's family is "Penix." There's
been a
log term discussion over one of our ancestors, Allen Penix.
Supposedly,
he was adopted (early 1800's) and was really a Whiting, White or
a
Whiteley. There is currently a Penix DNA project going on and it
has
confirmed that Allen Penix' lineage does not match with the
other Penix
line. I'm hoping to get a Whiteley descendant, hopefully of
Joseph
Whitely, to submit DNA.
I have a history of Allen Penix Sr. and his family, compiled by
a man named Harold L. Preston.
According to him, Allen died between 1880 and 1890 in Johnson
Co, Ky. He indicates that it was Allen Penix, Jr. who died
12-26-1920.
As far as Allen Sr. is concerned, Mr. Preston didn't know much
either. Much of the information he wrote about him concerned his
children, but if anyone would like to read it, I'll be happy to
provide a copy.
In reading this history again, I'm considering doing more
research of the Marcum Castle line, because Marcum Castle was
married to Catherine Penix, Allen's daughter. Both Allen and his
wife Sarah lived with Marcum and Catherine in their later years.
