George Standard lived 40 miles NW of Williamsburg VA in K&Q Co, near the Painkitank River. He is mentioned in the Vestry Book of the Straton Major Parish Church 24 Sep 1764.


There are many other mentions of George in the Parish Church records. Allotted pew #^ on 11 Dec 1767 to George Standard and his wife Rebecca.


George's son John died as a British prisoner during the Rev. War, a Pvt in the Inf. of the VA Line on Continental Establishment..


George acquired land in the Kentucky Territory in 1784; Military Warrant No. 213 for 6662/3 acres in the district set apart for the officers and soldiers of the Virginia State Line. Located on the west side of Russell's Creek in Green County. He and John Tupman recorded the land entry on 5 Aug 1784 and the heirs were given title by Gov. Shelby of KY in 1814. George also filed an entry for land on 17 Feb 1786 as shown in the Fayette county Entries Book 4, page 275, for 1000 acres a part of two treasury Warrents 700 acres No. 13914 and 300 acres No. 9596, lying on Eagle Creek adjoining Thomas Browns survey.


In 1790 George is shown as the head of hsld in Lancaster Co. VA with 9 white and 4 slaves. The inventory of his estate is recorded in Middlesex Co. VA in 1794. His wife Rebecca Standard is shown in the 1810 VA census in K&Q County, and a James Standard is shown in Middlesex County.


Three children are tentatively identified: John 1761-1780 died in Rev War;
Esther b c 1770 m. Robert Wake in 1808 and named as an heir to George Standard in an 1815 KY Land Deed; and
James b 1779 m. Frances Batchelder 31 Jan 1804, lived in Middlesex County and also shown as heir.
