I am in search of the parents and/or siblings of James BARRETT
of Virginia. He married Sarah WOMACK and they had one daughter,
Lucy, before he died in 1740. (Will registered 15 July 1740
Goochland Co., VA, D.B. 3, p.336).
Lucy married Capt. Noel BURTON of Goochland, ca. 1755/56. They
had 6 children (not all recorded in the Douglas Register). I
descend from their son, James BURTON (whose birth is not among
those recorded! But fortunately his grandmother Sarah deeded
some property and names him and another unrecorded
grandchild,Caswell Co. NC Deed book A, pp.305-306).
The only other thing I have learned about James BARRET (besides
what was in my first query) is that in 1722, in Henrico Co., he
chose as his guardian Capt. James HOLMAN, with Maj. Thomas
RANDOLPH as security. I don't know why he chose Capt. Holman and
I don't know what happened to his family.
That's all I know! I hope there is someone out there who knows
more about these BARRETTs! Anne Burton Washburn
