them by their father, Evan Davis, Sr. (great-grandfather of

This indenture Made the first Day of October in the Year of Our
Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty Two Between Joseph
Davis of Broad River in the Colony of South Carolina Carpenter
Jacob Dubre Junr. of the Northern Liberties of the City of
Philadelphia in the Province of Pennsylvania Yeoman and Hannah
his Wife (the said Joseph and Hannah being Two of the Children
of Evan Davis late of the said City, Carter, deceased by Mary
his Wife also deceased) and Martha Davis of the said City Widow
(she being the Widow and Devisee of the Real and Personal Estate
late of Samuel Davis deceased another of the Sons of the said
deceased Evan Davis and Mary his Wife) of the one part, and
William Davis of the said City of Philadelphia, Skinner, (the
Eldest Son of the said deceased Evan and Mary Davis) of the
other part...
Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Joseph Davis, Jacob
Dubre and Hannah his Wife, and Martha Davis for and in
Consideration of the Sum of One Hundred and forty Pounds One
Shilling lawful Money of Pennsylvania unto them well and truly
paid by the said William Davis... Do Grant bargain sell assign
set over remise release and confirm unto the said William Davis
... his Heirs and Assigns forever ... the Aforesaid several Lots
or pieces of Ground ... and Appurtenances ... To the only proper
Use and Behoof of the said William Davis... And the said Joseph
Davis for him and his Heirs The said Jacob Dubre for him and his
Heirs and for the said Hannah hs Wife and her Heirs And the said
Martha Davis for her and her Heirs severally and respectively do
hereby covenant to and with the said William Davis his Heirs and
Assigns That they ... the said Joseph Davis, Jacob Dubre and

our Lord One thousand seven hundred and sixty seven Between
William Davis of the City of Philadelphia, Skinner, and
Christian his Wife of the one part and Reuben Haines of the said
City, Brewer, of the other part.
Whereas in and by a certain Indenture bearing date the fifth day
of October One thousand seven hundred and sixty two made between
... [the] Overseers of the Public School Founded by Charter in
the City and County of Philadelphia in the Province of
Pennsylvania of the one Part and the said William Davis, Joseph
Davis of Broad River in the Colony of South Carolina, Carpenter,
and Jacob Dubre of the Township of the Northern Liberties in the
said County of Philadelphia, Yeoman, and Hannah his Wife (The
said William Davis, Joseph Davis and Hannah Dubre being the only
issue of Mary Davis late of the City and County of Philadelphia
Widow deceased) of the other part...
And whereas in and by a certain Indenture bearing date the first
day of October One thousand seven hundred and sixty two made
between the said Joseph Davis, Jacob Dubree and Hannah his Wife
and Martha Davis of the said City, Widow (she being the Widow
and devisee of the real and personal Estate of Samuel Davis
deceased, another of the sons of the said deceased Evan Davis
and Mary, his Wife) of the one part and the said William Davis
of the other part
They the said Joseph Davis, Jacob Dubree and Hannah his Wife and
Martha Davis did (interalia) grant and confirm unto the said
William Davis his heirs and assigns All and every the part and
parts purpart and purparts Share and Shares and dividend
whatsoever of them the said Joseph Davis, Jacob Dubree and
Hannah his Wife and Martha Davis of in and to the aforesaid
Messuage Lot or piece of ground and premises and all their
Estate and Estates property claim and demand of in and to the
said Messuage Lot or piece of ground and premises Together with
the appurtances To hold to him the said William Davis his heirs
and assigns forever as in and by the said recited Indenture
recorded at Philadelphia in Book H, vol. 21, page 166 &ca at
Large appears
Now this indenture Witnesseth that the said William Davis and
Christian his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Two
hundred pounds lawful money of Pennsylvania ... Have granted
