Emma A. Carter b Mar 1872 (1900 census), IA. Died 15 May 1961,
buried in the Gordon Cem., Lincoln twp., Madison Co, IA with
husband Jasper Conard, son of Jackson & Submitta Jane (Johnson)
Conard, b Oct 1866 in Madison Co, IA and d 21 Feb 1959. Jackson
Conard was one of five brothers who
came to IA c1860 with their widowed mother Anna Faulk Conard.
She had wed in Northumberland Co, PA and her husband John was
probably a grandson of the immigrant named Stephen Conrath...not
a descendant of Thones Kunders.
They left in the 1830s for Holmes Co, OH where they
are listed as "COONRAD" in the 1850 census.
John & Anna (Faulk) Conard had FIVE
Jackson, oldest, b 1827
Joshua
Timothy
Samuel
John, youngest, b 1839
All served in the Civil war from Iowa. I have records on most of
the descendants although they represent growing numbers
of people who've changed their name from Conard to Conrard.
There are still quite a few CONARDs around that part of Iowa.
