He married Elizabeth Thomson Mason February 17, 1813. Elizabeth
was born in Fairfax Co., Va. 1789. Elizabeth was the daughter of
Thomson Mason and Sarah McCarty Chichester. Elizabeth died
September 2, 1821 in Fairfax Co., Va., at 32 years of age.
Eulogy in Mason Family Bible.
His first wife, Elizabeth, was the daughter of his father's
brother, Thomson Mason.
He married Eleanor Ann Clifton Patton in Washington, D.C.,
January 2, 1823.(33) Married by Rev. Mathews.
George Mason VI and Elizabeth Thomson Mason had the following
children:
i. Helen Eliza7 Mason was born December 1, 1813.
ii. Sarah Eugenia Mason was born May 16, 1816. Sarah died June
29, 1816 at less than one year of age.
iii. John McCarty Mason was born April 25, 1817. John died July
7, 1837 in Va., at 20 years of age. Drowned in Pohick Bay
(Creek?). Eulogy and newspaper article (copied) in Mason Family
Bible. His body was interred 1837 in Gunston Hall Graveyard,
Fairfax Co., Va.. John participated in the Milit-Beg event 1837.
U. S. Navy
iv. George Thomson Mason was born August 17, 1818. George died
April 26, 1846 in near Fort Brown, Tx., at 27 years of age.
Killed in the Mexican War. He was a student in U.S. Military
Academy, BETWEEN 1838 AND 1842. School: school unknown.
v. Georgianna or Morgiana Mason was born December 19, 1819.
Georgianna died July 24, 1820 at less than one year of age.
vi. Sally Eilbeck Mason was born March 11, 1821.
George Mason VI and Eleanor Ann Clifton Patton had the following
child:
vii. Richard Barnes Patton Mason was born in Fairfax Co., Va.
March 4, 1824. Richard died May 10, 1847 in Alexandria, Va., at
23 years of age. His body was interred 1847 in Gunston Hall
Graveyard, Fairfax Co., Va..
