This transaction involved 300 acres on the branches of
Blackwater. Reg.g & c. Phill Wrayfords corner tree, & c. In
George Peircets line of his great pattent. If the instant John
is the John involved in this transaction needs additional
investigation
2. Land Office Patents No. 6, 1666 - 1679 (pt. 1 & 2, p. 1 -
692), p. 3 (Reel 6)
A John Moore is mentioned as having been formerly granted 390
acres in New Kent Co. Virginia. This land was located on the
south side of the freshes of the York River, adjoining the land
of Majr. General Hammond. It was formerly granted to John Moore
and Wm. Peasly on 12 October 1662 and had on this date become
due unto said Peasly as survivor. (Indicating that the John
referenced had died ?) If this is the instant John, it needs
additional investigation

Francis Smith Preston was the son of Col. William Preston and
Susanna Smith. Francis was a lawyer, a member of the State
Senate of Virginia and a Brigadier General in the War of 1812.
He married Sarah Buchanan Campbell b.4-21-1778 d.7-23-1846,
daughter of General William Campbell 1745-1781 and Elizabeth
Henry 1749-1825, on Jan. 10, 1793. (William Campbell was a
Colonel prior to Kings Mtn, became a General and apparently died
possibly as a result of wounds sustained in the battle. He was a
hero of the battle.)

"In Deheubarth, the resistance of Rhys ap Gruffudd, the only
surviving son of Gruffudd and Gwenllian, was more dogged. With
the assistance of the king, most of Deheubarth was repossessed
by the Marcher Lords and attempts were made to confine Rhys to
the upper reaches of the Tywi. He was unwilling to accept the
loss of his ancestral lands, and on several occasions between
1158 and 1163 there were campaigns against him by the forces of
the English crown."
