"Samuel and his wife Sarah and their family left New Kent County, VA in the early 1740's.

From Bugg Book: In New Kent Co, VA, at St. Peter's Church, there is a stone back of the Church on which is the following inscription:

THIS STONE WITNESSETH TO THE LIVES OF GOOD UPRIGHT PEOPLE IDENTIFIED WITH ST. PETER'S PARISH FOR MORE THAN 125 YEARS FROM ITS FOUNDATION IN 1684

COLONEL GEORGE LYDAL
DIED JANUARY 1705

CAPTAIN EDMUND BACON
AND HIS WIFE ANN LYDAL

JOHN BACON
AND HIS WIFE SUSANNA PARKE

SAMUEL BUGG
AND SARAH BACON HIS WIFE

SHERWOOD BUGG
BORN JULY 8, 1720

Author's note: This memorial stone back of Saint Peter's Church was probably placed there by the wife and youngest son of Sherwood Bugg, Sr: Elizabeth Bugg and Sherwood Bugg, Jr. It was probably done in the 1780's

1732 - received English Crown Land Grant in Brunswick Co, VA - the China Grove Farm.
1744 - received a grant of 400 acres of land from King George II, signed by William Gooch, Governor of VA. Land was in Henrico Co, the part that later became Chesterfield Co.

He remained at China Grove until his death in 1759. Seven of the children moved to Lunenburg Co before the death of their parents. Each of them bought land on the Roanoke, Allens Creek, and Cotton Creek. They lived only a few miles from China Grove."
