of Waddesdon manor) it is noted that the Courtenays held
Waddesdon and that Reynold de Courtenay settled Westcott lands
on his daughter Egeline on her marriage with Gilbert Basset.
Gilbert and Egeline later gave these lands to Bicester Priory
(cf. VCH(Oxford) VI:21). This would make Egeline daughter of
Reynold de Courtenay (d.1194) and Hawise de Curcy (d.1219) lady
of
Okehampton."
