Thomas Pettus, the son of one of these men, was one of the early
councilors of the Colony, and probably influenced his cousins to
come to Virginia. The two sons of Henry and Elizabeth Pendleton
came to Virginia in 1674, Philip, a young teacher, and
Nathaniel, a minister of the Church of England. Nathaniel died
very soon, leaving no children.
