His appointments included Brunswick Co. GA 1814; Ocmulgee, GA
1815; Broad River Dist NC 1816; Camden SC 1817; Apalachee, GA
1818. He joined his brother Thomas in Amite Co. MS later moving
to St. Helena Parish, LA.
In addition to being a preacher, he was also a planter.
According to Essie Chaney Watson, a great-granddaughter of their
daughter Mary Eleanor, William and Ann are buried at their "old
home place" in E. Feliciana where they moved when their home at
Chipola, near Darlington, St. Helena, LA burned sometime after
1839.
Many dates, names and relationships affirmed by Collinsworth
Family Bible, owned by the late Rev. Delos Cassels who died Dec
23, 1966. This apparently was William and Abba's Bible. Also,
MS Cem. & Bible Records, V. 10 & 14.
The assessment roll of the parish of St. Helena, LA for 1824
identifies William Collinsworth as a preacher with 344 acres of
land on the J. Branch. The assessment roll for the year 1826
identifies Wm. Collinsworth as a minister with 200 acres on the
J. Branch.
In St. Helena Parish, LA; Probate Records, Bk D, p 139, in
Jan/Feb 1831 William Collinsworth is shown as the adm'n of John
ROLLINS estate. and on p. 142, 24 Mar 1831. On 17 Feb 1831
William Collinsworth was appointed curator of the estate of John
Rollins and tutor for David Dixon, minor son of John Rollins.
On 1 Sep 1831 Wm Collinsworth sold to Robert Walker 250 acres on
the Amite River bounded N by Priscilla Prewitt, E by "B. Pipkin
and S. by Walthall Burton - acquired from Erasmus Williams.
In St. Helena Parish, LA; Probate Records, Bk D, p. 175, on 27
Mar 1834 at the sale of property at the residence of John
Youngblood dec'd, by his widow Mary Youngblood, William
Collinsworth bought a 450 acre tract of land on Buck Creek, the
home of Mrs. Youngblood, and 2 slaves for $600.
Wm Collinsworth adm. of the est. of John Youngblood, purchased
450 acres on Buck Creek from the est. of John Youngblood. Later
objections were raised over this purchase.
In a December 1834 appraisal of an estate in St. Helena Parish,
LA; Bk D William Collinsworth, appraiser.
On 1 Sep 1836, Wm Collinsworth sold to Robert Walker 488 acres
on the Amite River, bounded west by the river, south by Richard
Williams, east by William Collinsworth, north by Zachariah
Nettles, acquired by William Collinsworth by purchase from
William Williams.
27 Feb. 1843 Petition of Ann Hodges, wife of Wm. Collinsworth,
states she married Wm. abt 1819 , while the civil code of 1808
was in force. That she inherited from the estate of her father
and mother John and Ann Hodges, deceased, some negro slaves, who
are named. She also states that since 1820, John Hodges her
father paid to Collinsworth as a donation to Ann $400.00. She
states she also received from her father an undivided interest
in a tract of land in Wilkinson Co., MS, which her husband sold
in 1821 for $400.00. She states that in abt. 1823 Collinsworth
sold a horse which she received from her father for $200.00, and
that he sold slaves which she had inherited from her father.
She prays for a separation of property.

The book turned up in 1950 in the hands of another Collinsworth
family with added inscription: "Transferred September the 9th
1884 from O.M. Collinsworth to N.C. Collinsworth. M. A.
Collinsworth was Borned August the 23, 1876." It is unknown
what relationship O. M. is to our line.)
