ABT 1600 - BEF 1688

ID Number: I78922

  • RESIDENCE: Elizabeth City Co. VA
  • BIRTH: ABT 1600, England
  • DEATH: BEF 1688, Elizabeth City Co. Virginia
  • RESOURCES: See: LDS K6C7-D5 [S3005]
Father: John MOORE "the Immigrant"
Mother: Elizabeth MERRITT

Family 1 :
  1. +Augustine MOORE II
  2.  John MOORE
  3.  Martha MOORE
  4. +Elizabeth MOORE

Notes

Marriage 1 Elizabeth 'Anne' ? Married: BEF. 1620 d. bef 1688.

"In 1676, an Augustine Moore of the Old Poquoson, Elizabeth City Co., VA., is referenced as having patented the land formerly granted to his father, John. It is referenced that he may have married twice, first to an Anne (?, named in a Land Grant) and second to an Elizabeth (?, named in Elizabeth City Co. records).

Julia Clark at the Moore Family Forum on 23 February 2003, references an Augustine Moore who died on 28 July 1743. That Augustine Moore is believed to have located on a large tract of land on the Mattapony in King William Co., VA. He is believed to have been referenced as 'Old Grub Moore', because he had cleared so much land. It was that Augustine Moore who built 'Chelsea' and named it for the home of the celebrated Sir Thomas More, Lord Chancellor during the reign of Henry VIII. It is also claimed that John Moore (the instant Augustine's father ?) of Elizabeth City was a grandon of Grace Creascre who was the adopted daughter of Saint Thomas More, who married his son John.

The Augustine Moore who died 28 Jul 1743 at Chelsea in King William Co., VA. was born ca 1679 in England. He married Elizabeth Todd ca 1713 and is believed to have had at least five children, Bernard, Elizabeth, Augustine, Lucy and Thomas. That Augustine and the instant Augustine are not believed to be the same individual but potentially may be related. This needs additional investigation."

Family 1 : BONNE d'Arlon LUXEMBURG of Bohemia
  1. +CHARLES V "The Wise" de VALOIS of France
  2. +LOUIS I de FRANCE Duke of Anjou

Notes

Aka: Jean II "le Bon" de Valois, roi de France.
"Jean II, known as " the Good " (i.e. the brave man and the chevaleresque one), born in 1319, elder king de France, wire of Philippe VI and Jeanne of Burgundy.
Good knight, poor policy, limited intelligence and stubborn person, impassioned and violent one, prodigal, badly been useful by unworthy advisers, his reign was, with many regards, disastrous for France.
The war having begun again with the English and the being treasure vacuum, Jean joins together, at the end of 1355, the States Généraux to obtain money from it. A test was tried there to limit the arbitrary one of the king and his agents (the subsidies voted for one year only, their receipt and their employment entrusted, not with the royal officers, but with delegates of the States; right of resistance armed recognized against the abuses with
to be able and violences).
Beaten by his fault close to Poitiers and captive fact by Prince Noir (1356), Jean was taken along captive to London.
He returned to France only in 1360, when the peace treaty with the English, negotiated with Brétigny by the dolphin, the future Charles V, had been signed in Calais.
The conditions were expensive: abandonment with Édouard III, in all sovereignty, of some territories in north and all the south-west of France; payment of a ransom of three million ecus of gold; handing-over of hostages, including three wire of the king, until complete payment of the ransom.
In 1361, the duke of Burgundy, Philippe de Rouvre, died without posterity. Jean joins together the duchy with the royal field, then, a little more, late, gave it in prerogative to his young person sons, Philippe the Bold one (1363).
From this one was going to leave the second house capétienne of Burgundy, if disastrous, thereafter, in France.
In 1363, one of the hostages delivered by Jean, his own son, the duke of Anjou, escaped. Jean regarded himself as committed honor to take his place and, in 1364, it went back to London.
It died there a little later on April 8."
