Granddaughter of Norborne Burkeley Powell and Eliza Anne Holmes,

Gr.-granddaughter of Nathaniel Powell and Elizabeth Cowper
Chamberlayne, his wife.
Gr.-gr.-granddaughter of Lucas Powell and Elizabeth Edwards, his

Lucas Powel, (1722-1811), was a member of the Committee of
Safety of Amherst county, Va., 1775.
Nathaniel Powell, (1762-1827), enlisted when a lad under Capt.
John Cropper, Ninth Virginia Regiment, and served until the
surrender of Cornwallis. He was born in Williamsburg, Va; died
in Lebanon, Tenn.
