The Botts family was found in Stafford and Prince William
Counties. A ThomasBotts died in Stafford Mar 9, 1742.
"The place & date of birth of Thomas Botts, earliest ancestor
named in existing family records, has not been ascertained.
Traditionally, he was a son of one of two (or three) brothers
who came early from England to America. It is believed that he
was born in Northampton Co. Va. 1672-76, a son of Thomas Botts,
Sr. A chart made by Ann E. (Botts) Rhodes in 1860 gives her line
of descent from thomas Botts (d. 1742), with notation 'Botts
from England'; the Rhodes family history (pub. 1893) states that
her ancestors 'were originally from England.'" Source: The

The Botts families were tillers of the soil. In 1711, Thomas
Botts of Richmond County, Virginia received land from Catherine
Lady Fairfax of England. This 198 acres is in the "Northern Neck
of Virginia." the location of this land is in the head of the
branches of the middle arm of the Chapawamsick in Stafford

lived in early life in Caroline Co. which was formed in 1728
from Essex, King William, & a part of King & Queen Co. He served
in the French & Indian Wars in 1758.
Abstract of will of Augustine Leftwich The will named his wife
Elizabeth, sons, William Leftwich, Thomas Leftwich, Augustine
Leftwich, Uriah Leftwich, John Leftwich, Littleberry Leftwich,
Joel Leftwich, and Jebez Leftwich, daughters: Fanny Carter, Mary
Early, and Nancy Petross, granddaughter: Nancy Leftwich and
grandson: James Moorman. The will was signed June 10, 1794 and
was placed into probate in Bedford County, VA on June 22, 1795
Loren A. Thurman RootsWeb World Connect "totalfam" states: The
records of Bedford Co. indicate Augustine Leftwich was a man of
great wealth. Between 1761 and 1795, when he died, he bought and
conveyed several thousand acres of land. Prior to the date of
his will (10 Jun 1794, probated 22 Jun 1795), he had deeded each
of his children a large plantation, as well as a number of
slaves and other personal property. He was a sergeant in the
"French and Indian Wars" in 1758. (He has ancient ancestral
links to English nobility.)
