History of Dunmore 1937: in the summer of 1795,.........
Later, when the first foot-path from Blakely to the Roaring
Brook crossed the Wyoming or Connecticut Road at Allsworth, it
also became known as the "Corner."
"Four years later, Edward Lunnon, Isaac Dolph, James Brown,
Philip Swartz, and Levi DePuy purchased land and settled here
between 1799 and 1805."
"The Old Tavern, long since vanished, with its round swinging
sign and low bar room, one corner of which was fortified with
long pine pickets, extended from the bar to the very ceiling, in
times of youre was owned successively by Wm Allsworth, Phillip
Swartz, Isaac Dolph, Henry W. Drinker and Samuel Depuy before
its destruction by fire."
