Possibly he is the John Hubbard mentioned in the Quit Rent Roll
of 1704 a owner of 827 acres in New Kent Co. VA Many of the New
Kent records were lost, but since there were no other Hubbards
in Newe Kent, one may infer that the younger ones mentioned were
John's children.
John Hubbard (Junr) and Samuel Hubbard are mentioned in the
early fragmentarry records in the Register of St. Peter's
Parish, New Kent, VA. (Hubbaard Family Gen. Newsletter)
John became a Quaker after his second marriage and was a
contributor to the building fund of the meeting house, of the
Cedar Creek Monthly Meeting, when this Monthly Meeting was
established in 1739. He was named with Nicholas Stone in 1741 as
an overseer. He was appointed with Richard Ballard to attend the
marriage (civil ceremony) of Manoah Chiles to Anne Cheadle in
1742. He continued to serve as an overseer of the Cedar Creek
Monthly Meeting.
He had removed from Amelia County by 1744 when David Terrell was
appointed overseer in the room of John Hubbard. ( Hubbard Fam.
Gen. Newsletter)
