From the same source we learn that in the year 870 Alclyde was
invested by the Northmen under Olaf and Imhair, and destroyed
after a four months' siege; much booty and a great host of
prisoners being taken.
Olaf and Imhair seem also to have attacked both the Picts of
Galloway and the Angles of Bernicia, for they are said to have
returned to Dublin with two hundred ships and great booty of
men, Angles, Britons, and Picts, as captives.5
In 875 a Danish army under command of Halfdan again ravaged
Northumbria, Galloway, and Strathclyde,6 and made great
slaughter of the Picts. In the same year,

David Wrote Feb 13 2000 "I would REALLY APPRECIATE a copy of any
McMinn Co information you have on our Bryant's. Apparently
there were a number of our Bryant's that went from Georgia into
McMinn Co, Tenn and then on into Lincoln Co, Tenn. Your census
information would shed a GREAT LIGHT on these Bryant's. I am
REALLY SURPRISED to see Augusta Bryant in McMinn. I thought he
stayed in Georgia. Interesting! We should be able to find
some of Augusta's brothers and/or sisters in the 1870 McMinn
County census since the Bryant's seemed to travel together. If
we can find Augusta in the 1880 Census of McMinn Co, TN then
that might explain why Augusta Gaines Bryant died 30 Oct 1882 in
Hall County, Georgia. Any and all census information you might
like to share with me will be GREATLY GREATLY appreciated.
David Great Billie, You may have found an important link to the
father and mother of Augustus Gaines Bryant. I am quite sure
his parents names were Stephen Bryant and Mary Ann Green but
WHICH Stephen Bryant is the REAL FATHER. Unfortunately we have
two Stephen Bryant's who were born about the same time. I was
taking the research of Betty Jo Passey, who lived here in Mesa,
Arizona, In this research she states that Stephan Bryant and
Mary Ann Green were the parents of Augustus Gaines Bryant and
his brothers / sisters. Unfortunately Betty Jo has moved
SOMEWHERE and no longer lives in Mesa. Another Bryant researcher
states that she also believed that Stephen Bryant was born in
York Co, S.C. Apparently your census information says
differently. Anxious to see a copy of that CENSUS. Apparently
it is coming down now. You perhaps have pointed out an important
fact in establishing FOR SURE the parents of Augustus Gaines
Bryant. Anxiously awaiting further information."
