Biography* | Alice or Adeliza, Adelaide or Aelis (c. 1002 – 1038) was a countess consort of Burgundy, the daughter of Richard II, Duke of Normandy (972–1026) and Judith of Brittany. She married Reginald I, Count of Burgundy and had the following children: William I, Count of Burgundy Guy (c. 1025–1069), educated at the court of Normandy, who would lead a revolt for control of the Duchy of Normandy against his cousin William of Normandy (later William the Conqueror). He had to leave his county of Brionne and Vernon in Normandy, after being at the head of the coalition of the barons of Normandy, which was defeated at the Battle of Val-ès-Dunes in 1047. Guy found refuge with his uncle Geoffrey II, Count of Anjou. He later attempted to take over the county of Burgundy from his brother William. Hugh (c. 1037 – c. 1086), Viscount of Lons-le-Saunier, sire Montmorot, Navilly and Scey married to Aldeberge Scey. They had a son Montmorot Thibert, founder of the house Montmorot (or Montmoret). Falcon or Fouques of Burgundy (in fate unknown). Alberada of Buonalbergo (or Alberada De Macon) (c. 1033 – c. 1122) was Robert Guiscard's first wife.2 | |
