Clarence M. Younkin Jr., 83, of Scottdale, formerly of Connellsville, was called home by his loving Lord and his late wife, Cecelia, Wednesday May 4, 2011, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, while being comforted by his loving family.

He was born in Revere, a son of the late Clarence Marshall Younkin Sr. and Mary Williams Younkin.

Clarence was a loving father, grandfather and brother to his family. He looked forward to the holidays, enjoying family dinners and spending time with his grandchildren who had a special bond with their grandfather.

He was a proud veteran of the Army's 82nd Airborne Division, HQ HQ Company, 325th Infantry Regiment, serving during World War II in Germany and attained the rank of P.F.C.

Clarence had been employed for more than 40 years as a professional long distance truck driver with Suwak-Morrow Leasing Co. of Connellsville. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He had a love and appreciation for the workmanship that when into the restoration of antique and classic cars and attended various antique car shows in the area.

Clarence's memories will forever remain in the hearts of his loving family; his three children, Rocky Younkin and wife, Roxanne, of Connellsville, Rosemary Overly and husband, Charles, of Scottdale, and his caregiver for 12 years and with whom he resided, Margaret Uher and husband, Charles, of Acme; his special grandchildren, Chad and Christi Younkin , of Champion, Jamie Ulery and husband, Jonathan, of Connellsville, Haley, Megan and Kelly Uher, of Acme, and Ryan Younkin , of Connellsville; his two stepgrandchildren, Brandi and Shaun Michael Basinger, of Connellsville; his great-grandchildren, Christopher and Cailee Younkin , of Champion, and Seth Younkin , of Connellsville; his three stepgreat-grandchildren, Corey Basinger and Madison and Sierra; his two brothers and sister, Thomas Younkin and wife, Mary (Cookie), of Connellsville, William Younkin and wife, Janet, of Connellsville, Betty Eans and husband, Robert, of Dunbar; and his sister-in-law, Helen Younkin , of Connellsville; a number of nieces and nephews; and his loving felines, Harley Davidson and Mimi. In addition to his parents, Clarence will once again be reunited with his loving wife of 50 years, Cecelia Zeman Younkin , who died April 23, 1999; his sister, Myrtle Neighbors; and brother, Raymond Younkin.

Clarence's family will greet friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, where his funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev Chris Stillwell, Pastor of First Christian Disciple of Christ Church, Connellsville, officiating.

Chapel service and interment will follow in Greenridge Memorial Park, Pennsville, with full military honors bestowed by the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post No. 446 Honor Guard.

Clarence's family would like to acknowledge their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Doctors Alfakin and Nasser and the wonderful doctors and nurses of Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital CCU, Excela Health visiting home nurse, Sheryl, and his PT nurse, Beth, and nursing aid, Kathy, for their excellent care, love and compassion shown to their father and the entire family. Also a special thanks to Mutual Aid Ambulance Service, Scottdale Station, for their excellent care and kindness and also the Scottdale Vol. Fire Department for the AED assistance rendered to their father.
