BELOIT—Effie Pearl Borton, 68, of 4512 Westville Lake Road died at 4:45 p.m. Sunday at Salem Community Hospital following a short illness.
She was born Sept. 4, 1913, in Valley, a daughter of the late J. Murray and Iva Denny Jones. She was a lifelong resident of the area.
She retired in 1979 following 29 years as a pharmacist at the Gromoll Drug Stores in Alliance and Sebring.
She was a member of the First Brethren Church of North Georgetown. A 1931 graduate of Goshen Union High School, She was graduated in 1937 from the Ohio State University School of Pharmacy.
She was a member of the Columbiana County Farm Bureau and the Ohio Pharmaceutical Association.
She leaves her husband, Clarence M. Borton, whom she married April 4, 1939; four daughters, Sondra Samples of Salem, Geraldine Dorsey of Beloit, Mrs. Terry (Nancy) Shopbell of Burton and Mrs. Stpehen (Donna) Lysyj of Ravenna; one son, Clarence E. Borton of Louisville; two sisters. Mrs. Virgil (Anna) Cobbs of Damascus and Mrs. C. Lon (Erma) Hoones of Tucker. Ga., and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Brethren Church of North Georgetown with the Rev. Thomas Shannon officiating.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Arbaugh-Pearce-Greenisen Funeral Home of Salem, and the body will lie in state from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
The family’s favorite charity is the Memorial Fund of the church.
